DANGEROUS GOODS VEHICLE
DRIVER TRAINING

PROJECT TYPE – Insite Training
PARTNERS – TÜV Süd Academy, Germany

Process

Aim:

Develop an engaging  immersive training for drivers of dangerous goods vehicles, enabling them to understand and verify the essential safety features of their specific vehicle before taking the road.

Challenge:

Provide an engaging training experience that is-
- compatible with various VR headsets and mobile devices.
- allows users to explore the vehicle from multiple perspectives including above, below, and inside the cabin.
- highlights the key differences between two types of oil tankers.
- enables interactive examination of the contents within several sealed containers.

Solution:

Present both vehicles in a simultaneous view at one location. Utilise one-shot cameras to capture their undersides while integrating animations that allow exploration of closed cabinets and cabin spaces. Highlight various instances of identical safety features across different models using info point instancing

Animations

Our animation feature distinguishes
Look insite from other 360° providers, as you can leverage a stop motion technique in. conjunction with our builder tool to craft interactive, movable objects within the virtual space. This animation plays a vital role in unlocking various compartments, which house control mechanisms and nozzles,
effectively showcasing how these
compartments can be opened and revealing the fascinating contents within.

Headset VR

This project pioneered the development of our fully immersive VR headset solution, initially starting as a desktop experience accessible through a browser. We encountered various challenges in creating a fully immersive version that utilized the built-in headset browser and handheld controls. Today, this advanced functionality is now available to be integrated into all new projects.

Info Point Variations

Understanding the function of a specific object often requires an exploration of how it operates under various conditions. The warning signs and informational indicators on a hazardous materials vehicle come in a multitude of forms, yet they fundamentally fulfill the same critical role. This training involves a systematic approach to navigating the safety elements emphasizing their shared characteristics while elucidating the reasons for their varied appearances.

Working with IHK

The ADR immersive training was initially designed as a teaching resource for an internal program at TÜV SÜD Academy and has evolved into a widely adopted European training solution by IHK, enabling drivers to complete certified training remotely, without the need for in person attendance. This development not only facilitated a comprehensive revision of the training content but also included its translation into English, thereby expanding its accessibility. Translation is available across all new projects.

Cultural Discovery

The photography took place at Willig, a specialist in dangerous goods vehicles located in Straubing, Bavaria, and the shoot coincided with the vibrant Oktoberfest, adding an extra layer of excitement to the experience.
